General Description
 
The Field Technician is responsible for providing information, coordination, communication and facilitation support to the project/program team. He or she would be responsible for coordinating activities related to the project he/she is assigned to. The Field Technician should be residing in Juban, Sorsogon and will work closely with the IIRR Nutrition Officer in the implementation of the Climate Smart Nutrition Sensitive Agriculture component of the Transforming Lives through Nutrition Project of Helen Keller International. The Field Technician will conduct field visits, collect and analyze data, perform interviews and surveys, coordinate with local partners and beneficiaries, and communicate project-related activities and concerns to the project team.

Key responsibilities

His or her main responsibility is to assist the project lead and coordinator in the implementation of the Transforming Lives through Nutrition project. Responsibilities include:
  1. Establish relationships with community members and stakeholders, mobilize beneficiaries, and organize meetings, training, and events.
  2. Execute field activities, following project plans and timelines, and distribute resources to beneficiaries.
  3. Provide direct technical assistance and services to farmers, rural communities, and LGUs to support the management of Child Development Centers’ gardens and homestead gardens.
  4. Assist in the adoption of best agricultural practices and innovative technologies to enhance productivity and sustainability of indigenous crops.
  5. Collect and document data through surveys, interviews, and observations to track progress and inform reporting on adoption of climate-smart and nutrition-sensitive agriculture farming practices.
  6. Provide regular updates, report challenges, and propose solutions to project coordinators or managers.
  7. Liaise with stakeholders and support logistics coordination for field activities.
  8. Follow policies, guidelines, and safety protocols while ensuring accountability and proper resource use.
Requirements
  • A degree in agriculture.
  • At least one (1) year field experience in agriculture/rural development projects.
  • Interests to work in development through working with communities.
  • Ability to write and edit reports and conduct research.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Team player and able to work productively with teams.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary and multicultural work environment.
  • Computer proficient, with knowledge and experience in word processing and database management.
  • Physically-fit and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and with strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to follow instructions.
